PHILARMONIE DE PARIS
The Philharmonie de Paris is distinguished by its contemporary architecture, characterized by angular, sculptural forms. Projectiles, the agency responsible in particular for the interior design, developed a collection of lighting fixtures inspired by musical instruments. Drawing on the world of percussion, brass cymbals were chosen to create pieces that combine light, material, and musicality.
The Philharmonie de Paris stands out for its bold contemporary architecture, defined by angular lines, sculptural volumes and reflective surfaces that evoke rhythm, movement and vibration. Like a musical composition, the building is conceived as a sequence of contrasts, resonances and harmonies, creating a close dialogue between architecture and sound. Projectiles, the agency responsible for several of the interior spaces, extended this relationship by developing a collection of lighting fixtures inspired by musical instruments. Drawing on the world of percussion, brass cymbals were selected for their distinctive shape, warm golden finish and unique ability to reflect both light and sound. Transformed into luminous elements, the cymbals create subtle plays of reflection and shadow while retaining a direct connection to their original musical purpose. The resulting pieces blur the boundaries between lighting, sculpture and instrument, expressing the Philharmonie’s identity through a harmonious combination of architecture, craftsmanship, material and music.
